Update: May 29, 2013
Unfortunately due to a sudden unforeseen family matter, I will not be able to attend and speak at SharePoint Saturday Chicago Suburbs this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to present this session at an upcoming conference or SharePoint Saturday in the future.

I’m very excited to be speaking next Saturday, June 1 at SharePoint Saturday Chicago Suburbs in Addison, IL. A wide variety of topics will be covered, with sessions for Information Workers, IT Pros, Architects, and Developers. There will also be a SharePoint 101 track and hands-on labs.
It is going to be a great session lineup with some great speakers. Last I heard there were only a few tickets left, so if you haven’t registered yet you better get them while they’re still available. You can register on the Eventbrite page set up for this event.
My session is called Case Study – SharePoint as a Catalyst for Process Improvement and runs from 1:00-2:15 p.m. The full abstract is below:
Case Study – SharePoint as a Catalyst for Process Improvement
Many organizations strive to implement process improvement strategies so they can “go paperless” or benefit from the time and cost savings that come with automating manual processes. SharePoint is one of many tools that can help organizations achieve process improvement success; and if your organization already has SharePoint available, then why not use its powerful workflow engine to help achieve it? This session will showcase one such automated solution implemented by GreatAmerica Financial Services. In order to streamline their employee travel request and booking process, they created a solution for employees to submit their travel request via an InfoPath form, which is then routed to their leader for approval via a SharePoint Designer workflow, before it is finally sent to a travel coordinator to perform reservations and booking. Learn how their relatively simple solution realized numerous efficiencies and cost savings for the company.
Looking forward to spending some time in the Windy City. Hope to see you there!
