You may or may not have noticed, but recently I migrated my SharePointWendy blog from Blogger to WordPress. In the process my site got a complete makeover as well as a new name (Wendy Neal’s Technology Blog) and a new URL (wendy-neal.com). I’ve set it up so that all my old posts at SharePointWendy.com redirect to the new location, so hopefully I won’t lose any of that SEO juice that I’ve got going on! However, if I do lose some of that juice, I guess I’ll look at different agencies offering SEO services, and considering I work with Sharepoint a lot I think I’ll be looking into agencies that can offer me seo saas options, but we’ll hold off on that until I know the redirects work or not!
That’s not the only thing changing around here. I am also expanding my blog’s focus to several other technology topics besides SharePoint: I will have categories on Blogging, Office 365, Mobile, Productivity, Web Design, Usability, and basically anything else that I feel like writing about.
Does this mean I’m moving away from SharePoint?
Absolutely not! It’s just that I have a lot of other interests besides SharePoint that I’d like to start exploring. Rest assured that the majority of my posts will have something to do with SharePoint.
The transition and migration from Blogger to WordPress was surprisingly easy. The most time consuming part was editing each migrated post to change the page layout, update the categories and tags (the importer mapped Blogger tags to WordPress categories, and I wanted to have fewer categories for my WordPress blog), and set the thumbnail image. I plan to write an upcoming blog post that details what all was involved in case anyone else wants to do the same. Be on the lookout for that.
What do you think of the new look? Any and all suggestions are welcome, either leave a comment or send me a message.
